Welcome to the site of the project "Intercultural Literature in Portugal (1930-2000): A Critical Bibliography".
The research project “Intercultural Literature in Portugal (1930-2000): A Critical Bibliography” of the Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC) of the Portuguese Catholic University and the University of Lisbon Centre for English Studies (CEAUL/ULICES), was launched in 2008. Within the CECC, it forms part of the research strand “Cognition and Translatability”, while at CEAUL, it was undertaken by the research group in “Translation and Reception Studies” (GI6).
The aim has been to create a critical bibliography of literature in European Portuguese translated from any foreign language and published in book form, in Portugal, between 1930 and 2000. Data relating to the period 1930-1995 is available on line (31,434 records, last updated in June 2023). The final phase of the project, dealing with the period 1996-2000, is currently under way. The database has been available for (free) online consultation since 2010. In order to access it, just register as a user here.
The data on the site may be reproduced and used for research or teaching purposes provided that it is duly referenced. In accordance with The Chicago Manual of Style (16th ed.), the site should be cited as follows:
